Lifelong mathematician—20 years and counting—with a clear mission:
"Breaking the cycle of generational maths anxiety"
Many people believe "I’m just no good at maths"—a belief passed down through generations, often subtly and unintentionally, shaped not only by family but also by teachers, friends, and societal attitudes. This widespread "maths anxiety" creates a cycle of fear, avoidance, and self-doubt. But real learning begins with healing these old mindsets. That’s why an approach that focuses on breaking this cycle helps people experience maths as simple, fun, and truly accessible for the first time.
Veronika, a lifelong mathematician and educator, believes "being bad at maths" is a myth. Her "Yes, you can" approach has empowered countless students of all ages and abilities — both in Scotland, where she lives, and across Britain, Europe, and beyond.
Intrigued by the common perception that "maths is difficult", Veronika investigated this further.
She identified two key aspects:
- Learning from Examples: She believes the most impactful examples come from those closest to us — family. Veronika continues to help students and supports parents seeking confidence in teaching maths at home.
- Real-World Connection: As a mathematician and biologist (holding degrees in both!), Veronika, a passionate vegan and wildlife advocate, demonstrates that maths is everywhere in nature and around us.
Through a fun and friendly approach, Veronika shows that maths is approachable and practical and opens doors for everyone. She empowers individuals to embrace maths for career choices, daily life, and intellectual growth, ultimately proving that "yes, they also can."
